Custom fly fishing rods

Fly fishing is a dynamic activity and the responsiveness of the rod is critical to a perfect cast. Assembling the rod blank with precision allows the caster to feel connected with the fishing rod. I’ve built rods of various lengths and weights and the video below shows the majority of the process.

1st Build

A full fiberglass rod, at a short 7 ft, is perfect for gently presenting dry flies in tight quarters.

2nd Build

A full length, high quality blank assembled with a snub nose cork handle and a polished burl wood insert. Good for tossing anything, big and small.

3rd Build

The most unique rod I’ve built at 8 ft, 4 weight. Blue Halo is known for their fiberglass blanks and this one has a fully fiberglass tip. Has more oomph than the full fiberglass but the tip gives it a very soft presentation for dry flies.

4th Build

Another full length cannon. Not quite as stiff as the Affinity X, the MX comes from CTS in New Zealand, known for their high quality blanks. With a snub nose cork grip, this is very comfortable to cast and hit your target all day.
